Augmented reality may forever change the way you watch golf

Have you ever found yourself staring at that virtual tracker behind the golfer's shot, thinking about symmetrical it is?
Well there's an app where you can watch golf, with all the virtual bells and whistles.
It's called the U.S. Open AR App, and when you download it, you'll see golf from any angle you choose.
Allan Cook, Deloitte's Digital Reality Business Leader, says the technology gives you total control as a viewer and as a golf superfan.
"It puts you in control and allows you to watch the entire tournament in 3D in real time - following your favorite players or watching your favorite hole. It takes and enhances the TV & web viewing to the next dimension," Cook said.

The app launched in 2021 for the U.S. Open and the U.S. Women's Open and nearly 1.5 million strokes were watched as people worldwide followed players from the first tee shot to the final putt in AR.
The app allowed users to check out 3D views of every drive, chip, and putt; to compare player shots in AR on all 18 holes; and also to explore 360 views of the USGA Golf Museum & Library.
