CELEBRATING AND RECOGNIZING CHAMPIONS OF EDUCATION
A simple pat on the back, a fist bump, a trophy. Everyone likes to be recognized for their service, innovation, leadership, time, and talent through volunteerism. As summer break began for schools, The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools celebrated the end of a successful year with their annual full board meeting and breakfast, “A Celebration of Excellence Ceremony | Celebrating and Recognizing Champions of Education.” It was hosted by First Financial Federal Credit Union in Hunt Valley.
Beginning with a pre-celebratory breakfast and collaborative Meet & Greet, the day was hosted by Mick Rayburn, president, Cindy Jones, 1st vice president, and Deborah Phelps, executive director. During their opening remarks, the event moderators asked the audience “to think about how powerful our world would be if all individuals, especially our students, had an advocate, a mentor, a champion, an adult who would always be there to lend a helping hand, always listen, and never give up on them.
An adult who understands the power of connections, an adult who offer advice and provides support. An adult….a champion… who wants to make sure they understand and have what is needed to be successful, academically sound, and emotionally able ….so they can become the best they can be.” At the day’s gathering, the foundation recognized and celebrated just that ….champions in our community who believe in our students, our educators, and our schools. Champions who support in a variety of ways to provide assistance…champions who believe in the next generation.
