Join us at the Maryland Horse Library and Education Center as Maryland SPCA Community Care and Advocacy Director Katie Flory talks about the history of the SPCA, one of the nation’s oldest animal cruelty prevention societies and the women who made it what it is today. What began as a movement of concern for the plight of carriage horses in the city of Baltimore transformed the way horses and other animals are cared for, thanks in no small part to the avant-garde efforts of the MD SPCA’s first woman president, Mary Butler Shearer.

Attendance is free. RSVP here: https://bit.ly/3S9yaBm
