TWO TOWSON FOOTBALL PLAYERS EARN 2023 CSC ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT® DISTINCTION
TOWSON, Md. – Two Towson University football players, Jamal Gay and Evan Rutkowski, have been honored on the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team, announced by the organization.
To be eligible, nominees must be a starter or important reserve, must have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) in undergraduate and (if applicable) graduate studies and is at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
Gay and Rutkowski are eligible for CSC Academic All-America®, which will be announced on Jan. 23.
This is Gay's second season as a CSC Academic All-District® honoree. In the classroom, Gay earned his undergraduate degree in entrepreneurship in 2022 with a 3.693 GPA and is currently in graduate school for marketing intelligence, holding a 3.814 GPA. He started all 11 games at linebacker this year, finishing second on the team with 74 total tackles and adding 3.5 tackles for loss and an interception.
Rutkowski earns his first CSC Academic All-District® selection. The redshirt sophomore stands with a 3.628 GPA in marketing. He played all 11 games as part of the linebacker rotation, finishing with 30 total tackles and a forced fumble.
This is the sixth year in a row where at least one Towson football player has been recognized on the CSC Academic All-District® teams:
