TOWSON PLAYERS MAKE THEIR MARK IN 2024 UFL SEASON
SAINT LOUIS – In the inaugural United Football League (UFL) season, former Towson University Tigers had their part in the professional ranks.
Several Tigers were part of the UFL's first season after the merging of the XFL and the United States Football League (USFL) this year. The eight-team league played from March to June, 2024.
Darius Victor headlined the Towson crew, earning 2024 Sportsman of the Year. This award honors service off the field and excellence on the field. With the Memphis Showboats, Victor ran for 389 yards, sixth in the league, scoring four touchdowns, plus making 27 receptions for 138 yards. The team captain was involved in several UFL community initiatives around Memphis and Dallas-Fort Worth.
Jesus Gibbs was signed mid-year by the Michigan Panthers, helping the team reach the playoffs in his first professional season. He played in four games for the Panthers, including forcing a fumble. The Panthers also have Towson alum Collin Bauer as an assistant coach.
Other Tigers were at one point members of UFL teams, including Elorm Lumor playing the opening game with the St. Louis Battlehawks. Tom Flacco was a member of the San Antonio Brahmas while Tye Smith was a UFL Draft selection by the Showboats.
Towson currently has representatives in several professional football leagues, including the Canadian Football League and Indoor Football League.
