Vaughan Selected to 2024 Fred Mitchell Award Preseason Watch List
TOWSON, Md. – Towson University kicker Keegan Vaughan has been placed on the 2024 Fred Mitchell Award Preseason Watch List.
The Fred Mitchell Award is given annually to the top place-kicker in FCS, DII, DII, NAIA and NJCAA for excellence on the football field and in the community, according to the award's mission statement.
Vaughan is the first-ever Towson nominee for this award, being one of 40 on the preseason watch list, including one of 12 in FCS.
The redshirt senior kicker has been Towson's primary place-kicker for the Tigers the past three years, amassing 168 total points off 31 made field goals and 75 made extra points. Last season, Vaughan earned All-CAA Second Team recognition after ranking second in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) and 12th in FCS with 15 made field goals on a 83.3% conversion rate, including multiple field goals in six games. He has finished in the top-3 in the CAA in field goals made each of the last two years.
Vaughan and the Tigers begin the 2024 campaign at Cincinnati on Saturday, August 31 at 2:30 p.m.
