Men’s Hockey defeats Arcadia 2-1, earns MAC semifinal hosting rights on senior night

REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson Men's Hockey hosted Arcadia University tonight in their senior day contest. Though the Knights defeated the Mustangs in a pair of 4-3 matchups earlier in the season, the Mustangs downed the Knights 2-1 to claim home ice in next Saturday's MAC semifinal round.

It did not take long for the Mustangs to get on the board thanks to junior Connor MacDonell, who scored just shy of the three minute mark. MacDonell's fifth goal of the season was assisted by classmate Jack Karlsson and first year Aiden Lindley for their 13th and ninth assists of the year, respectively.

Neither team would score in the middle period, but the Mustangs were quick to double their lead just 36 seconds into the third. Senior Evan Beers scored his fourth goal of the season via classmates Graeme McCrory and Aidan Graham. McCrory's assist was his eighth and Graham's, his seventh.

Arcadia, with a playoff berth on the line, turned on the offensive pressure in the third period, firing off 13 shots. One of those shots found its way into the back of the net with just 34 seconds remaining in regulation.

The Mustangs were able to stave off the Knights, clinching their 16th win of the season as well as the No. 2 seed in the 2025 MAC tournament.

Junior Ford DeLoss had a strong showing in net, finishing with 34 saves.

In front of DeLoss, Jack Costabile, Blake Benson, and Jake Roberts each recorded two blocks.

In the circle, senior Dylan Florit won a game-best 13 draws, trailed by junior John Musella with his ten wins.

As the second seed, the Mustangs will host third-seeded Neumann University next Saturday, March 1st at the Reisterstown Sportsplex. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
