TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University volleyball team hosted UNCW in the second of two Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) matches on Sunday afternoon.
Towson (15-2, 6-0 CAA) held decisive hitting advantages in the match to secure a second-consecutive straight-set victory over UNCW (3-12, 2-4 CAA).

How it Happened
After beginning the opening set with a modest 6-4 lead, Towson scored seven of the next eight points to build a 13-5 lead.
UNCW pulled within six at 15-9 before the Tigers used two three-point runs late in the frame to get a set point at 24-13.
The Seahawks sided out on a service error before Addison Leber's kill cemented the 25-14 set one win.
UNCW opened the second set with a 4-3 lead before TU scored six of the next seven points to take a 9-5 lead.
After a Seahawk side out, the Tigers scored four unanswered, pushing their lead to 13-6.
The Towson lead got as big as 20-10 before the Seahawks strung some points together to keep the set alive.
The Black 7 Gold got their first set point of set two at 24-15, surrendered the next three to UNCW and won the set, 25-18, on a Malinah Purcell-Telefoni kill.
The Tigers opened set three on a 5-0 run before allowing four unanswered Seahawk points, allowing them to pull within one.
Knotted at seven all, runs of four and five points extended Towson's lead to 16-8.
Up 17-10, a Purcell-Telefoni kill and three attack errors pushed the lead to 21-10.
Kendall Minta scored the Tigers final three points of the match via two kills and a service ace to win the third set 25-12.
Inside the Numbers
Malinah Purcell-Telefoni finished with a match-high ten kills on a .667 hitting percentage. It marks her third match this season posting double-digit kills. She added five blocks, two digs and an ace.
Sydney Stewart paced all players with 23 digs. She's posted at least 17 digs in each of the last 14 matches.
Addison Leberposted eight kills on a .250 hitting percentage. It marks her fourth match this season with at least eight kills.
Up Next Towson will head to Williamsburg, Va. for two matches against William & Mary next Friday and Saturday. The matches are slated for 6 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
