Towson, MD – Seniors Grace Berquist of Hereford High School and Cayden Wilson of Eastern Technical High School have each been named Baltimore County's Young Woman of the Year by the Baltimore County Commission for Women.
Annually, the commission presents "Woman of the Year," "Young Woman of the Year," “Woman Entrepreneur of the Year,” and "Woman Making a Difference" honors. Berquist, Wilson, and the other award recipients were honored at a ceremony on May 21.
Berquist has earned a 4.0 unweighted grade point average while pursuing a rigorous Advanced Placement curriculum, balancing eight seasons of varsity athletics, and serving as president of the Class of 2026. As a participant in Towson University’s Outstanding Young Women Leaders program, she served as conference chair of its “Dream Big, Do Bigger” conference for student leaders.
She is captain of her school’s girls varsity field hockey and lacrosse teams, a member of Future Health Professionals, the Principal’s Advisory Board, and AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination). Berquist coaches youth sports and is completing a year-long internship at Maryland Pediatric Group. In the fall, she will attend High Point University and play Division I lacrosse while pursuing a pre-med track toward pediatrics.
Wilson, who participates with Berquist in the Outstanding Young Women’s Leaders program, has served as president of Eastern Technical High School’s One Love Club (which seeks to end relationship violence), co-founder and co-president of the Morgan’s Message club (focused on student-athlete mental health), and social media and marketing intern with the Baltimore County Bar Association. At Eastern Tech, Wilson played lacrosse, indoor track, and soccer and acted as a social media manager for all the athletic programs she participated in. She also served as the Eastern Tech Sports Network chief media analyst and executive board member and as a volunteer coach for Perry Hall Recreation’s girls lacrosse. Wilson is committed to play Division II lacrosse at Davis and Elkins College.
