Fatal House Fire in Finksburg

Early Monday morning, members of the Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company, along with firefighters and emergency personnel from mutual-aid companies, responded to a reported house fire in the 1800 block of Old Westminster Pike in Finksburg.

The incident was reported at approximately 5:23 a.m. Firefighters arrived and worked to control the fire while crews provided emergency care to the occupants of the residence. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, a 64-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman were transported from the scene. 

Sadly, the man later died from his injuries at an area hospital. The woman was transported to a Baltimore-area burn center for treatment.The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.Deputy State Fire Marshals determined that the fire originated in the kitchen area of the residence. 

The cause remains under investigation. Investigators have reported no indication of criminal activity at this time. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are assisting the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office with the investigation.

We would also like to recognize and thank the firefighters, EMS personnel, law enforcement officers, dispatchers, and mutual-aid companies who responded and assisted during this difficult incident.
