Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier Announces Launch of Baltimore County Youth Council

TOWSON — Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier announced the launch of the Baltimore County Youth Council, a new initiative that will give young people an opportunity to develop leadership skills, engage with County leaders, and help shape the future of their communities.

The Youth Council will bring together 12 Baltimore County residents ages 14 to 21 who are interested in leadership, community service, and youth advocacy. Members will share their perspectives on issues affecting young people, work with County leaders and community partners, and help identify ways to strengthen communities across Baltimore County.

“Our young people have a lot to offer, and we want to give them a seat at the table,” said Baltimore County Executive Klausmeier. “The Youth Council will give young people a chance to share their ideas, build leadership skills, and get involved in their communities. It will also help us hear directly from the next generation about what matters most to them.”

The Youth Council is part of the County’s ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities for young people to participate in their communities and connect with County programs, services, and resources.

Members will participate in regular meetings and activities focused on leadership development, community service, youth advocacy, and engagement with County leaders and community organizations.

Youth Council Applications

Baltimore County is seeking applicants who:

Are ages 14 to 21
Reside in Baltimore County
Are committed to attending regular meetings
Have an interest in leadership, community service, or youth advocacy

Young people from all backgrounds, experiences, and communities are encouraged to apply HERE.

“Strong communities are built when every generation has a voice in shaping their future,” said Baltimore County Administrative Officer D’Andrea L. Walker. “The Youth Council creates a meaningful opportunity for young people to share their perspectives and help us better understand the issues that matter most to them. It will also strengthen our connection with young people by ensuring they are aware of and engaged with the many programs, services, and opportunities Baltimore County offers.”

The Baltimore County Youth Council is an investment in the future of our county,” said Baltimore County Department of Economic and Workforce Development Director Jonathan Sachs. “By empowering young people to lead, serve, and influence meaningful change, we are helping ensure the next generation has the tools, confidence, and opportunities to strengthen Baltimore County for years to come.”
