FOOTBALL

BCPS had a pair of teams reach the state semifinals in 2025, including Milford Mill (3A) and Perry Hall (4A). Entering this season, both programs still look strong, but a pair of teams have jumped them as the top talent Baltimore County has to offer.

Hereford enters this season led by Reed Shilling, a two-way athlete committed to Yale University, along with Quinn Walter who was named to the Sports Illustrated all-region team last fall. The Owls come in with Division I athletes leading both sides of the ball including tight end Miguel Davis (Old Dominion) and defensive back Damari Moore (Villanova).

Milford Mill has been a Baltimore County powerhouse for years, but head coach Reggie White will be without nine athletes on last year’s roster who have moved on to play at the next level. These nine departures are headlined by linebacker Koby Sarkodie (NC State) and running back Damon Ferguson Jr (Pitt)

Perry Hall opened their regular season last fall being outscored 135-27 in three games, but came back to reach the state semifinals. In Robb Johnson’s second year leading the Gators, and with quarterback Joey Albrecht returning, PH could prove to be one of the best in the county, but fluctuating performances throughout last season raise question marks heading into this one.

GIRLS SOCCER

Perry Hall was crowned the MPSSAA 4A girls soccer state champion last fall, and they enter the 2026 season still looking strong. The Gators graduated 10 athletes including two all-state honorees, but they did retain Louisville commit Katelyn Price and all-county Sofia Zuniga. Towson is in a much different position the Gators as they graduated just two seniors, a county-wide low, and returned all-county goalie Madden SySantos. They finished last year 11-4-1, and have the talent to do even better than that this fall.

After not having a team at all in 2024, the Loch Raven Raiders finished with the best regular season record in Baltimore County last fall. Zoe Wallace and Lilah Kniffin both had significant roles on last year’s team and will step up to fill gaps left by three graduated all-county athletes. Sparrows Point comes into this fall without a pair of athletes from last fall’s roster who are now competing at the next level. Despite those important losses, head coach Geoff Holland returned a majority of his 2025 roster who finished last season with just two losses (one regular season).
