SUMMER OF PHELPS PT. 5: END OF SUMMER

It was the ultimate end-of-summer bash at the Padonia Park Swim Club, and the sun was shining brightly over the sparkling blue water. The pool was packed with members soaking up the very last drops of summer vacation.

Lounging poolside on two oversized beach chairs were Chuck Beary, the famous local singing bear, and his best buddy, Quincy Hopper the bunny. Chuck was adjusting his sunglasses, while Quincy happily munched on a carrot-flavored popsicle.

Suddenly, Quincy pointed his long ears toward the deep end. "Hey Chuck, look! There's Foxxy Redd!" Foxxy waved excitedly and trotted over, but she could barely keep her eyes on her friends. She was staring at a tall man sitting nearby with a collection of gold medals practically gleaming in the sunlight.

"Chuck, Quincy, look who it is! It’s Michael Phelps!" Foxxy squealed. She desperately wanted the swimming legend's autograph.

Gulping down her nerves, she walked over and asked. Of course, Michael smiled warmly and signed her pool kickboard. But then, the Olympic Champion looked past Foxxy and gasped. "Wait a minute... is that Chuck Beary?!" Michael asked, his eyes wide.

It turned out the world's greatest swimmer was a huge fan of the world's greatest singing bear!

He had heard about Chuck's concert at Oregon Ridge--the Hottest Night In Hunt Valley.

Foxxy proudly introduced Michael to Chuck, and Chuck happily signed a giant paw-print autograph for him. Chuck and Quincy left to get ready for the show.

As twilight began to fall, the pool lights turned on, casting a magical glow over the water. The massive crowd gathered around the deck for the main event: Chuck and Quincy's big end-of-summer concert.

The music kicked off, and the atmosphere was electric. Foxxy Redd found herself dancing right alongside Michael Phelps and a sea of cheering fans. Right in the middle of the set, Chuck started strumming a familiar, bouncy beat and belted out, "Splish Splash, I was takin' a bath!"

Quincy got so into the rhythm that he did a massive bunny-hop flip and plop!—splashed right into the pool, sending a wave of warm water over the front row. Everyone cheered and laughed.

To close out the perfect night, Quincy climbed out of the pool, dried off his fur, and took the microphone. He softened the mood and ended the concert with a beautiful slow rendition of the Elvis classic, "Can't Help Falling in Love." As the final notes echoed into the warm evening air, everyone knew this was a summer they would never forget.
