THE ROCKS:  A DULANEY FIXTURE TO REMAIN

Much continues to change since our last update from three months ago. The locker rooms have exterior and interior walls and poured floors and the ground floor of the main building shows foundations and awaits more concrete. Rumor has it that much of the steel framework will start shortly.

Check out the bird’s eye views—can you find the blue painted “Rocks” (that will be along the front of the new school), the water tower (can we paint “Dulaney” on that?) and the blue of Loch Raven Reservoir in the background?

The number one question that we get asked by Dulaney alums is:“Do the seniors still paint the rocks at Dulaney? ”Answer: You betcha! 

Continuing the tradition for over 60 years (and 60 plus coats of paint), the Class of 2027 had an awesome Senior BBQ and even got some paint on the rocks on a day that was great to be a Lion!PS: Remember that, despite the construction of the new Dulaney, the ROCKS are going nowhere.

February 2026 Update:

• Underground stormwater and Sand filtration system ongoing
• Site demolition continuing
• Underground Utility work in progress
• Site utilities underway

March 2026 Update:

• Site drive lanes and parking underway
• Building pad subgrade underway
• Foundations underway
• Site utilities in progress
• Retaining walls nearing completion

June 2026 Update:

• Stormwater management work ongoing
• Transformer and Pad have been set by BGE
• Fencing installation underway
• Curb/Gutter/Sidewalk in progress
• Site utility work ongoing
• Site retaining walls in progress
• Building foundations underway
• Under slab rough-ins in progress

July 2026 Update:

• Sitework – grading, utilities, and retaining walls ongoing
• Lower-Level Area A in progress – PE area
• Crane for structural steel being built
• Building footings ongoing
• Underground utilities in progress

September 2026 Update:

• Footings complete through area D and G.
• Slab on grade poured through area D.
• Gym masonry walls ongoing. Masonry walls for auditorium started.
• Structural steel started for gym. Girders and joists in place.
• Auditorium ramps / risers in place.
