TOWSON MEN’S LACROSSE – NATIONALLY RANKED

TOWSON, Md. – For the first time since 2020, the Towson University men's lacrosse team is nationally ranked in the top-20.

      Towson comes in at No. 20 in the United States Intercollegiate Coaches Association (USILA) Coaches Poll and No. 18 in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.

      This is the first time that Towson is nationally ranked since the opening week of 2020. That game on Feb. 8, 2020, Towson was No. 19 in the USILA Coaches Poll and No. 17 in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.

      The Tigers are currently on a three-game winning streak, standing at 7-3 overall and 3-0 in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play. It is the first time the Black & Gold stands 7-3 through the first 10 games since 2019. Towson has dominant victories over Saint Joseph's, also ranked in the top-20 of both polls, and Navy, receiving votes in the polls.

      DOWNS EARNS THIRD CAA MEN’S LACROSSE WEEKLY AWARD

        TOWSON, Md. – For the third time this season, Luke Downs has been honored by the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA), being named the CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.

        Downs was the CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 19 and Feb. 26. He is the only player to have three CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors this season.

        As a team this year, Towson has seven CAA weekly awards, including four defensive honors. Colby Barsz was the CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Mar. 18.

        Downs anchored down in goal for Towson's 9-8 victory over Stony Brook on Saturday, the third straight win for the Tigers. The junior from Sykesville, Maryland finished the game with 11 saves to just eight goals allowed in his return to the net.
