TOWSON, Md. — Wolf Furniture & Mattress has reopened its first store here according to reports from local TV station WMAR.

The report notes that the store is located at 1530 East Joppa Road in Towson and that the store’s manager told the station that it is the only one to reopen so far. The manager also told WMAR that Wolf is under new ownership but didn’t elaborate further.

Wolf Furniture is a former Top 100 retailer and was acquired by Art Van Furniture in 2017. It remained part of the defunct retailer’s holdings until it liquidated in 2020. At the time of the Art Van acquisition, Wolf operated 18 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. In 2017, Wolf ranked No. 58 on Furniture Today’s Top 100 with furniture, bedding and accessory sales of $125.4 million in 2016.

Wolf was co-founded in 1902 by Charles Wolf and Jon Fox. In 2015, Wolf Furniture acquired Maryland-based Gardiners Furniture and rebranded the stores Gardiner Wolf Furniture.

Furniture Today called the store and was given an email address for its owner, but the person answering the phone would not disclose the owner’s name.
