Jim West of WBAL’s ‘Jones and West’ morning show passes away

WBAL NewsRadio has learned that Jim West, former co-host of WBAL’s morning show “Jones and West,” died on Friday. He was 95.
Jim West, a Baltimore native, graduated from Towson State College, now called Towson University, and became a well-known voice in the sports community in Baltimore and beyond.
Prior to joining WBAL NewsRadio, West had served as the play-by-play announcer for the Baltimore Clippers games on WITH Radio.
West was honored in 1967 with the James H. Ellery Memorial Award for outstanding media coverage of the American Hockey League.
West also served as the television announcer for the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Cubs broadcasts in 1970 before returning to Baltimore.
