OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Field Hockey hosted Eastern Mennonite Wednesday evening in a non-conference matchup. The Mustangs set the tone early, showing their offensive strength as they cruised to a 10-1 victory.
Junior Annie Ingersoll got the scoring spree started just two minutes into the game, capitalizing on a feed from graduate student Emma Gladstein. Soon after, junior Hailey Mertz and sophomore Lauren Tobin notched their first and second goals of the season, respectively, extending the Mustang lead to 3-0 within the first seven minutes of play. Rounding out the quarter was sophomore Lainey Rogers, who scored her first goal as a Mustang once again via Gladstein.
It was Gladstein who started the scoring up again in the second, doing so in a solo effort. Despite a Royals goal early in the quarter, Gladstein was back on the board within minutes to bring her point total to six on the night. Ingersoll scored her second of the night before assisting sophomore Anna Zadel for Stevenson's seventh and eighth goals. First year Taylor Barchanowicz scored her collegiate first before the quarter expired.
Joining in on the night of firsts was rookie Molly Parker, who scored her first career goal in the fourth quarter via classmate Coco Wallace.
After tonight's point spree, Gladstein leads the Mustangs with 27 points on ten goals and seven assists. Following Gladstein is Ingersoll with seven points and three goals.
The win is Stevenson's highest scoring affair since the 9-0 victory over Notre Dame (Md.) in 2019.
The Mustangs look to maintain their unbeaten streak this Saturday when they travel to Fredericksburg to face Mary Washington at 1 p.m.
