The Baltimore Blizzard Women's Ice Hockey team had a long, perfect season. It was capped off by a 3 goal comeback in the championship game and overtime victory to finish the season 14-0, last weekend in northern Virginia.
Congratulations to Anna and her Baltimore Blizzard Women's Ice Hockey team as they overcame a 0-3 deficit with 10 minutes in the 3rd period to win 4-3 in overtime, beating the Annapolis Osprey in the Championship game in the Mid-Atlantic Women's Hockey League MAWHL 2024-25. They had two tough wins over 2 days.
Anna ended the season as the highest goal scorer IN THE LEAGUE for the 2024-25 season. She was 3rd in the league for overall points (G + A).
The Osprey only lost two games - both to the Blizzard. Another first: first time we've ever seen a legit fist fight in an adult ladies’ hockey game. (Not Anna.) The competitiveness was fierce for apparent revenge of the 2 previous season losses to the Blizzard. It looked like the rubber match would lead to the championship for Annapolis. Toughness prevailed as Baltimore's blitz to score four late goals completed a miraculous comeback.
The Baltimore Blizzard Women's Ice Hockey Club fields both a "C" level team and a "D" level team in the Mid Atlantic Women's Hockey League (MAWHL). These teams are equivalent to USA Hockey levels. The teams also play games against East Coast hockey League teams, participate in tournaments, and scrimmage year round.
