Women’s Lacrosse concludes season as 2025 MAC Commonwealth Runner-Up

    YORK, Pa. – The Stevenson women's lacrosse finished off the season as the 2025 MAC Commonwealth runner-up after falling to the York (Pa.) Spartans 11-17 in the Championship match up on Saturday afternoon.

    York came out fierce in the first quarter and netted seven-straight goals to slot a 7-0 lead at the end of the quarter.

    The Spartans put an eighth goal away at the 13:13 mark of the second quarter, as Kara Yarusso put the first goal on the board for Stevenson about two minutes later. York replied with two more goals to notch a 9-1 lead at the half.

    The Mustangs came out with a fire within to start off the second half, with a string of four goals with goals from Erin Steinberg, Olivia Galati, and Kellyann Coccia, as Isabelle VanEmburgh, Alice Petersen, and Galati dished out assists. York then retaliated with a five-goal run to slot the 14-5 lead heading into the final quarter.

    In the fourth quarter, Stevenson held York to three goals, while netting six. Yarusso, Galati, Steinberg, and Katherine Friedman all contributed goals in the fourth quarter, but despite the Mustangs' second half surge, the Spartans walked with the 17-11 win and Championship title.

    Galati and Yarusso both slotted a four-point afternoon with a hat trick and assist each, as Steinberg put up a hat trick. Coccia and VanEmburgh each tallied two points in the contest with a goal and an assist and two assists, respectively. Friedman netted a goal, as Petersen handed out an assist. Sophia Murray led the team in the draw controls column with eight on the day with five ground balls and caused turnovers, as Yarusso led the ground balls column with seven. Anna Johnston and Regan Torbert both spent time in goal, and Johnston made eight saves.

    The Mustangs finish the 2025 season 12-7 Overall, and 5-2 in regular season MAC Commonwealth play. In the postseason, the Mustangs sat in the No. 3 seed and went 1-1, beating No. 2 seeded Messiah in the Semifinals, but falling to No. 1 seeded York in the Championship.
