Michael Vick’s Norfolk State coaching debut set for prime time
Spartans to open 2025 season under the lights at home against Towson, nationally televised on ESPN Network.
NORFOLK, Va. — The Michael Vick era at Norfolk State is set to kick off in the national spotlight.
The Spartans announced Thursday that their 2025 season opener against Towson will take place on Thursday, Aug. 28, with a 7 p.m. kickoff at William “Dick” Price Stadium. The game will air live on one of ESPN’s networks, with the exact channel to be revealed at a later date.
Not only will the matchup mark Vick’s much-anticipated head coaching debut, it will also be the first night game at Dick Price Stadium in nearly four years — the last coming in a 63-26 win over Elizabeth City State on Sept. 18, 2021. It’s also Norfolk State’s first midweek home game since a Thursday night loss to Bethune-Cookman back in 2014.
This will be the fourth all-time meeting between Norfolk State and Towson, and the third in as many years. The Spartans pulled out a gritty 21-14 road win in a rainstorm last season, but Towson edged NSU 28-23 in Norfolk the year before.
Excitement is building across Hampton Roads as Vick, the legendary quarterback and Virginia native, begins his first chapter on the sidelines. Season ticket holders and NSU Athletic Foundation members can now purchase single-game tickets, with sales opening to the general public on July 14.
