TOWSON, MD — BJ's Wholesale Club hopes to replace the former Walmart in the Towson Place shopping center, multiple reports said.

The two-story building has sat vacant since Walmart closed in April 2024.

The Baltimore Sun reported that the potential BJ's still needs Baltimore County's approval.

"Development plan calls for a new building and a reconfigured and more level parking area," County Council Member Mike Ertel (D-Towson) told The Sun. "I feel that BJ's will be a great addition to this shopping center and fill a need for a wholesale shopping venue inside the Beltway in central Baltimore County."

WMAR reported that construction could begin in 2027, setting BJ's up for a potential opening in mid-2028.
