Celebrate Maryland's 387th anniversary with an online celebration featuring dignitaries, honored guests, and an unveiling of a new archaeological find.

Spend time at the annual Maryland Day celebration on the scenic Potomac River. The celebration runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., including free museum admission and water taxi rides from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., food truck, special exhibits, a public ceremony from 2 to 3 p.m. featuring guest speakers and dignitaries from around the state. There will also be a public Mass on the island at 11 a.m. honoring the first Mass said in the English-speaking New World.

This event commemorates the first landing of the colonists on St. Clement’s Island and marks the meeting of the local native people – the Piscataway – and the Englishmen, and the beginning of what was a long and sometimes difficult relationship between the two cultures. The 2:00 p.m. ceremony includes representatives of both cultures.
