LADEW GARDENS OPENS

The native Butterfly House is now open for the season and will be open (weather permitting) through late September. Enjoy an up-close view of the habitat and life cycle of more than 20 native butterfly and caterpillar species.

The Butterfly House is included in your general admission, however first come, first served timed tickets are required and can be picked up at Admissions upon your arrival to Ladew. The Butterfly House ticket allows a 20-minute docent-guided tour. Thursdays through Mondays: 9:20 am – 3:20 pm. Tuesdays: 9:20 - 6:20 pm.

Welcome to the magical Butterfly House at Ladew!

Ladew's Native Butterfly House offers an up-close view of the habitat ad life cycle of native butterflies and caterpillars.

The Butterfly House is an outdoor exhibit and occasionally closes due to inclement weather.

The Butterfly House is open July 5 through late September. Dates and hours are subject to change. The Butterfly House is included in your general admission, however, first come, first served timed tickets are required and can be picked up upon your arrival to Ladew.

The tickets allow a 20-minute docent guided tour from 9:20 am – 3:20 pm, and 9:20 - 6:20 pm on Tuesdays.

Guests are asked to arrive to the Butterfly House promptly at their scheduled time.
Tickets sell out on busy days.

The Butterfly House at Ladew is an all native butterfly house. Ladew staff, interns and trained volunteers gently net butterflies and moths on Ladew’s grounds and place them inside the Butterfly House where they have all that they need to live complete life cycles. This means that we are able to showcase not only butterflies and moths, but also eggs, caterpillars, chrysalis and cocoons! In addition to highlighting these beautiful insects, the plants that they rely on are also integral to this exhibit.

Learn how you can support butterflies in your own yard! Trained Butterfly House docents and educational signage guide visitors through the natural gardens and life cycles of over 20 species of local butterflies, moths and caterpillars.

Be amazed! Many of our visitors return to the Butterfly House on a regular basis as fascinating changes happen quickly in the summertime. An explosion of caterpillars one week means that shortly after, butterflies are emerging from their chrysalis, or eggs are hatching!
