I saw Lisa Marie live on Sunday from Graceland. I made sure to watch the Elvis Birthday commemoration on YouTube. I try to watch the short ceremony every year. I was happy to see that this time she was there and would be able to carry on The King's legacy for some time to come.

With this news, and that of Jeff Beck this week, it has hit home that many of the great ones are passing too fast. More coming soon here concerning the RS200 "Best Singers" and the 50th re-release of Dark Side of the Moon.

Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley's only daughter, has died at 54

Lisa Marie Presley, the beloved only child of Elvis Presley and heir to Graceland who had been embraced by millions of fans of the singer as a living link to the King of Rock 'n Roll, has died. She was 54.

Presley’s death was confirmed by her mother, Priscilla, who called her daughter "the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”

"It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us," Priscilla Presley said in a statement reported Thursday night by People magazine.

Presley was hospitalized Thursday after being treated for what TMZ and other news outlets reported as cardiac arrest.

Presley — who would have celebrated her 55th birthday Feb. 1 — recorded albums and toured as a singer, and she made headlines with high-profile marriages to singer Michael Jackson and actor Nicolas Cage.
