The second annual Let’s Play Ball! event, hosted by The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools, Inc., is just a few weeks away and will once again feature a friendly, but competitive, softball game between BCPS administrators and BCPS educators. Come cheer on your favorite staff members as the administrators defend their title as champions, and the educators seek to claim the Let’s Play Ball! Championship trophy.

The star-studded teams will be coached by All-Star Major League Baseball Legends Mike Bordick and Rick Dempsey. Bordick is the Baseball Warehouse Ambassador, a member of the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame, and a 14-year career Oriole player from 1990-2004. Dempsey is the Baseball Warehouse Partner, a member of the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame, and a 24-year MLB player from 1969-1992. 

The pitcher for the softball game will be Matt Morris, owner and operator of the Baseball Warehouse and a former four-year letterman at Franklin High School, who signed his first professional contract as a free agent and played for several organizations during his career.

There has been a lot of chatter pertaining to the second annual Let’s Play Ball! event. Reviewing the schedule will help ensure that you won’t miss any activity.

10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Vendor Village, food trucks, and a variety of celebrations

10:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. A skills clinic facilitated by League of Dreams for nearly 100 BCPS middle school Allied Sports athletes.

12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Celebrity Home Run Derby featuring regional talented celebrities and pro athletes.

1:40 – 4 p.m. Softball game: Team BCPS administrators versus Team BCPS educators

Let’s Play Ball! will bring together, recognize, and celebrate BCPS school administrators, educators, and middle school Allied Sports athletes and their coaches. It will be a day filled with camaraderie and memorable moments. It will also be the culminating activity for BCPS Administrators Week, Monday, May 8 through Friday, May 12, and will showcase school spirit via students, families, and colleagues, along with a few special guests such as The Oriole Bird, Baltimore Ravens Poe, and others.

With the gates opening at 10 a.m., you will want to bring your blankets, chairs, and mitts to get your front row seat to cheer on your favorite celebrity, professional athlete, educators, and administrators. Bring your appetites to visit the food trucks. And save time to participate in a variety of games and activities featured in Vendor Village.
