Baltimore County Executive Olszewski Calls for
Nominations for the
Inaugural Community Heroes Awards

Seven residents one from each County Council district will be honored for their selfless dedication to their communities

TOWSON - Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski issued a call for nominations for the inaugural Baltimore County Community Heroes Awards, which will recognize seven individuals — one from each County Council district — who have made significant and meaningful contributions to their communities and for their selfless dedication to making a difference for those around them.

“Baltimore County has an incredible network of strong, vibrant communities, and at the center of many of them are those who dedicate their free time advocating for their neighbors and neighborhoods,” said Olszewski. “I urge everyone to nominate their own community heroes and look forward to honoring those tireless individuals whose work and dedication to their communities make Baltimore County a great place to live, work and raise a family.”

Nominees must reside in Baltimore County. Current Baltimore County employees and elected officials are not eligible.

Examples of a Community Hero include, but are not limited to, an individual who:

  • Creates programs and initiatives in response to community needs;
  • Raises awareness about their community’s history or legacy;
  • Establishes and nurtures community relationships through neighborhood events, celebrations or fundraising;
  • Promotes and celebrates diversity in their community;
  • Advocates for their communities’ most vulnerable residents; or
  • Volunteers at local institutions – including schools – in need of assistance

All entries must be submitted online and include an up-to 350-word description of the nominee along with contact information.

Nominations are open until June 30, 2023.

Winners will be recognized at Baltimore County’s second annual Community Leaders Summit on September 28, 2023.
