Baltimore County Public Library (BCPL) is bringing back the popular Adult Reading Challenge as part of its 75th-anniversary celebrations.

The challenge, dubbed "B Well-Read Bingo," kicked off on September 5 and will continue through October 28. It offers participants a commemorative prize for completing a bingo card of reading challenges.

Readers have two ways to engage with the challenge: digitally via the Beanstack app or website or by using a physical game board available at BCPL branches.

On the Beanstack platform, an interactive game board allows participants to earn badges as they complete various reading challenges. Once they register, users can click on a bingo card square to view its specific challenge, such as reading a mystery book or revisiting a childhood favorite. Each completed challenge earns the participant a badge.

For those who prefer a tactile experience, paper game boards can be picked up at any BCPL branch, or participants can download a copy.

For those who need help deciding what to read, the library has also curated a list of suggested novels spanning its 75-year history. Staff members are additionally on hand to provide book suggestions for individual challenges.

"We are delighted to bring back this much-loved competition, especially as it aligns with our 75th anniversary. This challenge is perfect for all adults, whether they are looking to rediscover their love for reading or are keen book enthusiasts eager to explore a new genre, said Julie Brophy, BCPL's Adult and Community Engagement Manager.

Participants can complete the B Well-Read Bingo by completing a row of challenges in any direction—across, down, or diagonally.
