      WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Towson men's basketball earned a hard fought 61-52 road victory at William & Mary on Thursday night. Three Tigers hit double figures led by Christian May with 15 points with Charles Thompson adding 11 points and 12 rebounds in the win.

      Towson (16-10, 9-4 CAA) used a strong surge in the second half to pull away from the Tribe (8-18, 3-10 CAA). The Tigers shot 55 percent in the second half and held William & Mary to just 27 percent.

      Key Stats:

      • May went 6-9 from the floor and 3-5 from three in the win. Thompson was an efficient 4-9 from the floor and tied a career-high with five assists.
      • Tomiwa Sulaiman chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds with Nendah Tarke adding eight and eight.
      • Towson scored 30 points in the paint and led for over 36 minutes of game play.

      How It Happened:

      • Towson jumped out to a fast start, ripping off a 10-0 run to open the game shooting 71 percent from the floor.
      • William & Mary would respond with a 12-2 run over a four-minute stretch to cut the Tiger lead to just two at the under 12 timeout.
      • The Tigers would go scoreless for nearly seven minutes before buckets from Tomiwa Sulaiman and Christian May gave the Tigers a four-point lead.
      • Both teams would battle late in the half, but a late bucket from Charles Thompson gave Towson a slim 27-26 lead at halftime.
      • Both Thompson and Nendah Tarke led the way with six points each with Thompson collecting five rebounds. The Tigers scored 20 of their 27 points in the paint and assisted on eight of 12 made shots.
      • Both teams would struggle from the floor early in the second half, but a quick 6-0 Towson run pushed the Tiger advantage to 39-34.
      • Towson would continue to build their lead, pushing it to seven after a putback bucket from Tomiwa Sulaiman.

      • William & Mary would cut the Tiger lead to single digits, but Towson would hit free throws down the stretch to hold off the Tribe on Thursday.

      • Charles Thompson moved into a tie for second place in career starts with 109. He is tied with Lawrence Hamm. He now only trails Devin Boyd with 113.
      • Thompson also recorded his 31st career double-digit rebounding performance and also recorded a double-double.
