OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Men's Lacrosse opened their season at Mustang Stadium tonight with a non-conference matchup against Muhlenberg College. An early Mustang lead gave way to a scoring surge by the Mules, but the Mustangs would battle back to a 15-10 victory.

Muhlenberg got on the board first just under four minutes into the game, and the Mustangs responded with three goals before the quarter was through. Juniors Jack Scaliti and Grant Zick, as well as senior Andrew Searing, scored three minutes apart from one another, all unassisted.

First year Hunter Bryant kept the offense going early in the second with his first collegiate goal, followed by Max Racich for his first of four goals tonight.

Muhlenberg woke up after Racich's goal, scoring eight straight throughout the end of the second and beginning of the third. Both Bryant and Racich scored their second goals of the evening to close the gap before first year Gavin Gossen rounded out the period with his collegiate first.

Gossen was back for his second goal of the night just eight seconds into the fourth quarter, scoring the game-tying goal at nine. He was assisted by classmate Darrell Curtis, who would score his own goal minutes later after Racich completed his hat trick. Scaliti assisted Racich and graduate student Ed Masterson aided Curtis on the eventual game-winner.

After Muhlenberg scored their tenth goal, the Mustangs powered through for four more goals of their own courtesy of first year Carter Grear, senior Conor Halpin via Racich, Searing, and Racich for his fourth goal of the night set up by junior Grant Zick.

Halpin would go 22-28 (.786) on face-offs and picked up a game-high 13 ground balls. Senior Ryan Quinn caused a game-high five turnovers.

In goal, graduate student Justin Scorese made 12 saves for the win.

With game one under their belts, Stevenson Men's Lacrosse will face Christopher Newport on the road. CNU, currently ranked fourth via USILA, will host the Mustangs on Saturday, February 24th at 4 p.m.
