TOWSON GYMNASTICS POSTS PROGRAM AND EAGL RECORD ON BARS AT GW QUAD MEET

    WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Towson University gymnastics team completed the final regular season meet of the 2024 season on Sunday afternoon, placing fourth with a 196.575 behind George Washington (196.600), Rutgers (196.825) and Penn State (196.875).

    The Tigers remained dominant throughout a majority of the meet, holding on to the lead for the first three rotations after posting scores of 49.225 or higher before falling to fourth place following a 48.550 on beam.

    The highlight of the afternoon for Towson came during the second rotation of bars where it posted a program record on the event for the third time this season. The Black & Gold put up a 49.525 aided by four Tigers scoring 9.900 or higher. The score also breaks the program record for the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL), previously set by North Carolina with a 49.325 in 2003.

    Towson collected six podium finishes, one of which was a gold medal performance from Grace Vaillancourt.

    Rotation One – Floor – 49.225
    · Elise Tisler logged a 9.925, which marks her fourth score in the 9.9's this season. She placed second overall.
    · Retoshia Halsell and Clara Hong posted a pair of 9.850s.
    · Grace Vaillancourt scored a 9.825.
    · Carmella Calafati received a 9.775.

    Rotation Two – Vault – 49.275
    · Polina Belanovski posted a season high 9.900, only .025 off of her career high, for second place.
    · Camille Vitoff stuck her landing for a 9.875.
    · Elise Tisler logged a 9.850.
    · Retoshia Halsell and Adriana Hoffman both scored 9.825.

    Rotation Three – Bars – 49.525
    · Grace Vaillancourt picked up her first bars win of the season after matching her career high 9.950 to tie for first overall.
    · Clara Hong and Isabella Minervini posted a pair of 9.925s for a share of third place, joining Vaillancourt on the podium. The score marks a new career high for Hong.
    · Camille Vitoff matched her career high 9.900 which landed her in fifth place.
    · Lauren Greene and Lauren Keener logged a pair of 9.825s.

    Rotation Four – Beam – 48.550
    · Jenna Weitz led the Tigers with a 9.875, making her way on to the podium for a third place finish.
    · Sarah Girot and Lauren Keener both posted 9.825s.
    · Clara Hong scores a 9.800.
