Celebrate National Library Week With Us
Baltimore County Public Library joins libraries across the country in celebrating National Library Week, which runs Sunday, April 7, through Saturday, April 13. As your community connector, we are looking forward to highlighting the value of the library and the many benefits of a library card.
This year's American Library Association’s National Library Week theme is “Ready, Set, Library!,” which proves no matter where you find yourself on the roadmap through life’s journey—preparing for a new career, launching a business or raising a family—the library provides an inclusive and supportive community where everyone belongs.
"Our library is more than just a building; it's a community hub where people come together to explore, learn, create and connect," said library CEO Sonia Alcántara-Antoine. "National Library Week is our chance to celebrate the incredible impact libraries have on our neighborhoods and to reaffirm our commitment to serving as inclusive spaces that foster lifelong learning."
21st Century Libraries
The evolution of libraries has moved past a place with books on the shelves. We now cater to our customers' needs and find ways to break down barriers in the process. This is evident in our digital equity goals, offering free WiFi in and around our branches, providing free Chromebooks and hotspots with a library card and encouraging people to take advantage of our long-term lending program. We also encourage you to go digital, streaming movies, shows, music, books and more.
Customers are also encouraged to enjoy a variety of activities that are offered for all ages. From story times and STEM programs to book clubs or checking out a pickleball set from our Library of Things, the library has something for everyone.
Celebrate With Us
Ways to celebrate National Library Week include signing up for a library card in person or online, attending one of our programs and checking something out from the library’s collection. We also encourage you to follow our Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter) pages and download this image to use as your temporary profile picture to raise awareness and support for the library.
