HAMPTON, Va. – The No. 20/18 Towson University men's lacrosse team improved to 5-0 in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) with a 25-2 victory over Hampton Saturday afternoon and clinched home field advantage for next month's conference tournament.

After trailing 1-0, Towson (9-3, 5-0 CAA) scored the final 14 goals of the first half to take control of the game at Hampton (0-11, 0-5 CAA). That Towson run continued to 21-0 into the fourth quarter as Towson finished with 25 goals, the most scored since beating Vermont 25-7 on May 4, 1996.

With the win, Towson has secured hosting rights to the upcoming CAA Tournament. Delaware, also 5-0 in league play, is ineligible to host the tournament after announcing it was leaving the CAA after the 2024-25 season.

    Key Stats:

As a team, 13 Tigers tallied up a total of 15 caused turnovers.

    How It Happened:

    • Battling a harsh wind in the game, Towson got off to a slow start. Hampton struck first in the opening five minutes off a catch and shoot from Sebastian West to Xavier Salley for a 1-0 home team lead.
    • Towson got on the board with 2:30 left in the first quarter as Jamison Gaskins scored close range. Towards the end of the quarter, Nick DeMaio scored off the pass from Alex Roussel to make it 2-1 Tigers.
    • Scoring one goal in the opening 5:42 of the second quarter, Towson went on a tear, scoring a total of 12 goals in the second period while shutting out Hampton in that time. DeMaio scored four goals in that span while Joaquin Villagomez notched three of his own as Towson took a 14-1 lead into halftime.
    • With Towson going mainly to its reserves in the third quarter, the Tigers continued to roll, shutting out the Pirates 6-0 to open the second half. Matt Burham started with a hat trick in the third as Towson went into the final period up 20-1.
    • An Alex Vieni goal continued the run to 21-0 for Towson, when Canyon Steverson scored to get Hampton its second goal. Towson shut out the Pirates the rest of the way, adding four more goals for a 25-2 victory.
