Mustangs cruise to third straight MAC victory with 21-3 effort against Alvernia

    OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Men's Lacrosse hosted Alvernia University in their third Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth contest of the season. The Mustangs would keep with their 20-goal theme, coming away with a 21-3 victory. In their three conference games thus far, the Mustangs have outscored their opponents 71-15.

    Stevenson scored seven goals in the first quarter, five in the second, six in the third, and three in the fourth, outshooting the Golden Wolves 73-23. Fifteen Mustangs recorded points in the victory, and seven players tallied multiple.

    Leading the Mustang offense was first year Gavin Gossen, who scored four goals and added two assists to tie a career-high six points. Joining Gossen with four goals was sophomore Max Racich and junior Jack Scaliti also earned four points on a goal and three assists. First year Darrell Curtis matched Scaliti's assist total, but added two goals for a five-point evening.

    Junior Grant Zick scored the first goal of the game before adding two assists. Senior Andrew Searing would also finish with three points on two goals and an assist. Following Searing and Zick was junior Jered Monar with a two-goal night.

    Five Mustangs registered their lone point on goals. Seniors Conor Halpin and Dillon Linhardt as well as junior Graeme McCrory added to their season totals, while sophomore Brennan McKneely and senior Thomas Bethune notched their first goals of the season.

    First year Hunter Bryant, junior Luke Wetzel, and graduate student Ed Masterson each contributed an assist.

    Halpin went 14-19 on face-offs, collecting a game-high 11 ground balls along the way. Senior Ryan Quinn trailed with four ground balls, and behind him were Bethune and senior Justin Tepper with three apiece. Quinn would also cause a game-high three turnovers, tying with Masterson. Zick, Scaliti, and senior Jack McKenna followed with two caused turnovers each.

    In net, three Mustang goalkeepers combined for nine saves led by graduate student Justin Scorese with five. Sophomore Kieran Banks followed with two and junior Kai Dimaculangan made one stop.

    The win puts Stevenson at 8-5 overall with a flawless conference record. They look to extend their win streak to six with their matchup at York College (Pa.) next Wednesday, April 17th.
