Baltimore County Police Department offers 2024 Halloween safety tips, events list
With Halloween just around the corner, the Baltimore County Police Department is offering safety tips for children and motorists.
One way to celebrate the holiday safely is to attend a supervised event. The Baltimore County Police Department has a list of events that have been sponsored by the department. This also includes family-friendly Halloween events hosted by local community associations and churches.
For those who are handing out candy, the Baltimore County Police Department recommends turning on outside lights, removing any hazardous objects from your yard, and staying on the sidewalks, not the streets, to avoid backyards, shortcuts, and alleys. Children should also be accompanied by an adult chaperone who carries a flashlight, and parents should encourage their children to go trick-or-treating with a group before dark.
As for motorists, the Baltimore County Police Department reminds drivers to watch for children walking on roadways, medians, and curbs. Motorists should also enter and exit driveways and alleys carefully, and be alert for children who may be excited and dart into the street.
