Baltimore-Area Schools Support Local Nonprofits with Holiday Décor Program

This holiday season, the Village of Cross Keys is hosting an exciting new initiative that brings together eight local schools to create festive holiday décor while raising support for Baltimore nonprofits. From November 20 through December 31, students will display their decorated 3’x3’x3′ gift boxes around the theme “Gifting Back to Baltimore.” These creatively designed boxes will be displayed at Cross Keys, and the public is invited to visit and vote for their favorite designs.

Each vote will generate a donation to the nonprofit represented by the school, with prize donations based on the number of votes:

$5,000 for first place
$2,500 for second place
$1,000 for third place
$500 for all other participating schools.

This program goes beyond just holiday decorations; it’s an opportunity to connect students, local businesses, and nonprofits in support of important causes during the winter season. The initiative highlights community collaboration, creativity, and the spirit of giving back.

Baltimore Hunger Project is honored to be one of the nonprofits selected, partnering with McDonogh School and St. Paul’s Schools. Lynne B. Kahn, Executive Director of BHP, shared, “We’re thrilled to collaborate with local schools on this program. It’s a wonderful way to engage young people in understanding the mission of Baltimore Hunger Project while making a meaningful impact on their community.”

We invite everyone to visit Cross Keys, explore the holiday displays, vote for your favorite gift box, and help support nonprofits like Baltimore Hunger Project. Your vote can help provide much-needed resources to organizations serving Baltimore families in need this holiday season.

The decorated gift boxes will be on display through December 31 at the Village Shops at Cross Keys. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy the holiday spirit, support local nonprofits, and help make a difference this season!
