Le’tray Lee Gets Prison Time For Gas Station Robberies
A Baltimore man who terrorized a Carroll County gas station with two armed accomplices will spend the next two decades behind bars.
Le’tray Lee, 29, pleaded guilty this week, to armed robbery and first-degree assault for his role in a violent holdup at the Marathon Gas Station in Hampstead in July 2023, the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office announced.
On the night of the robbery, Maryland State Police were called to the gas station at 201 Hanover Pike just before 8 p.m., when a caller reported three armed men storming the store, threatening employees, and stealing cash, tobacco, and lottery tickets.
Surveillance video showed Lee pointing a handgun at victims multiple times while acting as a lookout.
Another suspect pistol-whipped a store clerk, leaving him bloodied. The trio forced employees to the ground before making off with their haul.
A witness provided police with the suspects’ getaway vehicle’s registration number. Shortly after, Baltimore City Police alerted troopers that the same car had been involved in another armed robbery in Baltimore.
Law enforcement tracked the vehicle to Baltimore, executed a search warrant, and arrested Lee outside a residence—where he was still wearing the same shorts as in the gas station surveillance footage.
Inside the home and car, investigators found stolen lottery tickets, the clothes Lee had worn during the robbery, and a handgun believed to be the same one seen in surveillance footage.
As part of his plea, Lee was sentenced to 20 years in prison by Carroll County Circuit Court Judge Richard R. Titus. He also received a 25-year suspended sentence for first-degree assault.
Carroll County State’s Attorney Haven Shoemaker Jr. sent a clear message following the sentencing:
“I am hopeful that the outcome of this case sends a strong message that robbers—no matter where they’re from—will not be trifled with in Carroll County.”
