WHAT: The Baltimore County Fire Department hosted a press briefing highlighting a historic investment in public safety: nearly $40 million in new fire and EMS apparatus. This major initiative reflects the County’s ongoing commitment to firefighter safety, operational efficiency, and exceptional service to the community.
The new fleet includes:
- 26 medic units – the most frequently used vehicles in the department’s fleet
- 16 fire engines – with updated water capacity and safety features
- 2 tractor-drawn aerial ladder trucks – the tallest ever used in Baltimore County
- 3 rescue engines – a new service for the County equipped with battery-operated rescue tools
- 1 specialized hazardous materials unit, 1 USAR rescue unit, and 13,000-gallon tanker
- 19 supervisor vehicles and 17 brush units

Many of these vehicles are already in service, with others to follow shortly. Each piece of apparatus features cutting-edge safety technology and the department’s updated black-over-red color scheme. The investment also supports volunteer partners, with over $2 million allocated to 12 new BCVFA medic units. |
