Log Cabin Chocolates to close Fallston location
A local landmark that has served as a staple for sweet-toothed residents for more than six decades is preparing to close its doors following a family dispute over the property. This was the last Easter and business was brisk.
Log Cabin Chocolates, a Fallston institution since 1961, recently signaled its impending departure with a message on its outdoor sign reading “Vacate Uncles [sic] Orders.” The message serves as a public jab at the family member who holds the deed to the property and is forcing the shop to shutter its current location.

Allison Borsella, the niece of the property owner and current operator of the business, says she will lose the physical storefront. However, Borsella said she does not intend to let the family legacy end with the eviction. She is already moving forward with plans to launch a new venture designed to uphold the candy-making traditions established by her grandparents 65 years ago, according to WMAR.
The original Fallston shop became a regional destination over the decades, with generations of Maryland families making annual pilgrimages to the cabin-style building for holiday treats and specialty chocolates. For many customers, the visit served as a rite of passage passed down from parents to children.

While the loss of the historic building marks the end of an era for the local landscape, Borsella remains focused on the product rather than the real estate. She noted that the essence of the business has always been the chocolate itself, and she is committed to continuing that craft at a new location regardless of the cost or effort required to restart.
Details regarding the final day of operation at the Fallston site and the timeline for the new opening have not yet been released.
