Film society welcomes new Cinema Art Theater manager

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society recently welcomed Amy Tootle as its new theater manager.

The film society is moving forward post-pandemic to broaden its 24-year legacy of providing outstanding indie films through the annual Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival, Cinema Art Theater: This Week and alternative performance programming at its Cinema Art Theater in Lewes.

A sixth-generation Sussex Countian, Tootle was raised in Millsboro. In 1989, she moved to the Baltimore area to finish high school. She went on to attend Towson University, where she studied fine arts with a concentration in sculpture. After college, Tootle held several retail management jobs before landing a position in the community safety department at the Maryland Institute College of Art.

Tootle made her way back to Sussex County working with the YWCA Delaware and then the Small Business Development Center in Georgetown. Other career highlights include leadership roles in the retail sector for several local businesses focused on customer care as an assistant manager and customer service trainer.

“RBFS’ vision is to deliver great content, improve patrons’ experience and increase the value we offer here at CAT for cinema enthusiasts. Amy’s experience in the arts, customer care and deep roots in Sussex County embodies RBFS’ vision,” said Helen Chamberlin, executive director.

The film society’s mission is to promote cinematic arts and provide education, cultural enrichment, and opportunities for engagement for diverse communities and audiences. RBFS sponsors film screenings, special events and the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival, running from Monday, Nov. 7 to Sunday, Nov. 13.
