ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Stevenson Men's Hockey faced off against Nazareth following yesterday's 2-1 win. The Mustangs would continue to roll over the Golden Flyers, taking today's game 4-0 for their second consecutive UCHC sweep.
Junior Liam McCanney, who tied the all-time goals record of 33 against Manhattanville, shattered the record today with two goals. He scored the first just 33 seconds into the second period via senior Eric Olson before following up with an insurance goal six minutes later with help from senior Zach Egber.
With the pair of goals, McCanney brings his season total to six with eight points. Olson's assist on the game-winner was his second of the season while Egber's help marked his third assist of the season.
Junior Malcolm Palmer scored his second goal of the series in the second period on the power-play after netting yesterday's game-winner. Classmate Aidan Graham was credited with the assist, elevating the duo to seven and two points this season, respectively.
The lone goal of the third period came from sophomore John Musella via classmate Blake Benson. Musella now sits even at three goals and three assists while Benson builds on his assists (7) and points (9) lead.
Junior Ty Outen was perfect between the pipes, picking up his second shutout and sixth win. He made 39 saves, including 14 in the first period and 20 in the third.
Olson and junior Graeme McCrory combined for 22 of the Mustangs' 35 face-off wins with 12 and 10, respectively.
The win puts the Mustangs at 7-3-1 overall and 5-2-1 in conference play. They will look to extend the win streak to three and pick up both UCHC and MAC points next Saturday, December 9th, at 4:30 p.m. when they host King's College.
