#10 McDaniel College

Located in Westminster, McDaniel College has over 1,600 undergraduates and 1,400 graduates enrolled. The campus is 160 acres in size. That’s about the size of Disneyland in Anaheim, California! Founded in 1867, McDaniel College is one of the first independent, coeducational institutions of higher learning in the United States. About 60 percent of the courses offered have a class size of 20 people or fewer. Tuition is around $49,600 yearly, but the college has generous financial aid packages.

#9 Salisbury University

With an enrollment of 7,123 students in 2022, Salisbury University’s campus is 215 acres in size. That’s almost twice the size of Vatican City. This university is situated in Salisbury, Maryland, and is part of the University System of Maryland. In-state tuition is only $10,396 annually and $20,872 for out-of-state students. With the motto, “Make Tomorrow Yours,” Salisbury University is one of the most sprawling college campuses in Maryland.

#8 Frostburg State University

Frostburg State University’s campus stretches over 260 acres. Frostburg is also a member of the University System of Maryland and has an enrollment of around 4,800 students. Established in 1898, this state university is located in Frostburg. It offers 47 undergraduate degrees, but ethnobotany is one of its most unique programs. Employing experimental learning and practical experiences, ethnobotany explores the cultural use of plants. It is one of only two programs like it in the country.
