“Softie” Ambassador Jimmy Charles To Host Benefit Concert For Show Your Soft Side And Debut New Single, “Back in Baltimore”

Straight from Nashville, award-winning singer/songwriter and Ocean City-native Jimmy Charles returns to debut his new single, “Back in Baltimore,” at a benefit concert for Show Your Soft Side, a public service campaign that was created to change the mindset of young people who all-too-often view the maiming and torturing of defenseless cats and dogs as a sign of “toughness” or “manhood.” Charles, an animal lover and the anti-cruelty campaign’s newest “Softie” ambassador, will perform April 13, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at BC Brewery in Hunt Valley, Md.

Show Your Soft Side has had many programs grow out of their singular campaign launched over a decade ago, from developing partnerships to support law enforcement’s efforts to fight animal cruelty to providing a helping hand to homeless animals in Baltimore and beyond. Show Your Soft Side is determined to use its platform to improve the lives of animals everywhere and works with more than 250 “Softies,” who run the gamut from recording artists, actors, athletes, and rock and country music stars, including Charles, to create a more compassionate world for animals and, at the same time, provide much-needed support to the most vulnerable animals in our own community.

Charles was born and raised in Ocean City, MD. After earning his degree from Towson University, he headed to Nashville to pursue his singing and songwriting career. He auditioned for Nashville Star along with 40,000 other people and advanced to the top 50. Charles would go on to earn a unanimous vote ticket to “Hollywood” as a Season 9 American Idol contestant.

“My co-writer Goose Gossett and I originally wrote this ode to Baltimore 10 years ago when I was missing all my friends and family, including my Towson Football teammates, after I had moved to Nashville,” said Charles. “With all the excitement of the Ravens in the NFL playoffs this past season, I recorded a new acoustic video of that original song, which has received an absolutely incredible response.”

Tickets are $35, and VIP tickets are $75, which include reserved front-row seats, a meet and greet with Charles and a signed poster. Doors will open at 5:00 pm with a warm-up from DJ T-Dome and DJ WJZ from T&S Entertainment. Adoptable pups from AARF will be available to cuddle throughout the evening.
