NADELEN HONORED AS ECAC DI MEN’S LACROSSE COACH OF THE YEAR

Leading the Towson University men's lacrosse team to its strongest season in years, Shawn Nadelen has been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Coach of the Year, announced by the ECAC on Wednesday.

In addition, two Tigers were named to the 2024 All-ECAC Team, Nick DeMaio at attack and Mikey Weisshaar at midfield.

The ECAC encompasses over 200 member schools primarily in the Northeast across all NCAA divisions. Nominees had to have won a league major award or been an all-conference first team honoree and are voted on by a select committee.

Under Nadelen this year, Towson had its winningest season since 2016 as the Tigers went 13-4, including an undefeated Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) regular season and the program's first CAA Tournament title since 2019. Towson had a DI program record nine-game winning streak under Nadelen, the CAA Coach of the Year, finishing in the top-15 in the national rankings.

DeMaio earned All-America Honorable Mention status from the USILA, Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse after being the CAA Offensive Player of the Year and CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. The graduate student attack earned the program's first 50-assist season since 1999, tallying up 82 points with 32 goals. He earned at least four points in 11 games.

Weisshaar, a 2024 Inside Lacrosse Media First Team All-American, also earned All-America status from the USILA and USA Lacrosse. A starter in 17 games in the first midfield, the sophomore had 42 goals, the sixth-highest goal scoring season in Towson history. The All-CAA First Team midfielder also added 19 assists for 61 points, having eight hat tricks.
