The Hunt Valley Wind Ensemble's mission is to provide an opportunity for adult amateur musicians to rehearse and perform challenging wind band repertoire while providing live music for the local community and beyond.
Sarah Culp-Abrams

Sarah-Culp Abrams is thrilled to begin her journey as the Head Conductor of the Hunt Valley Wind Ensemble!
Sarah is a New Jersey native, and recently moved from Ocean County, NJ to the Baltimore, MD area to pursue a graduate degree in Wind Conducting at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, studying under Dr. Harlan Parker. Prior to attending The Peabody Institute, Sarah earned a Bachelor of Music in music education from the William Paterson University of New Jersey (2013) and a Master of Music in music education from Rutgers University (2019)
Before returning to full time graduate studies in the fall of 2023, Sarah served as the Director of Bands at Manchester Township High School in Manchester, NJ from 2016-2023 where she directed the marching band, concert band, jazz band, and pit orchestra for the school musical.
Bands under her direction have received superior and advanced ratings at music festivals all around the northeast. In May of 2023, her concert band received the “Best Overall Band” placement at the Music in the Parks Festival in Hershey, PA. She is a passionate educator and advocate for music programs in schools.
Sarah was also named Associate Conductor and Assistant Director of the Toms River Municipal Band in June of 2021, a group she previously served as principal trumpet in since 2013. Sarah has also performed at the Atlantic Brass Quintet seminar, in Boston, MA, and with the Central Jersey Wind Ensemble.
Sarah resides in the Federal Hill area of Baltimore with her husband, and in her spare time enjoys cooking, spending time with her family, and making music with others.
Sarah would like to thank the Hunt Valley Wind Ensemble board and members for this incredible opportunity to make music and foster wonderful connections through community band!
