TIMONIUM, Md. — The Maryland State Fairgrounds’ Farm & Garden Building, built in 1962, was recently demolished to make way for a new more versatile building that will be constructed on the same Fairgrounds’ site near the York Road Main Gate entrance. Construction of the new building is expected to begin in May and will take approximately six months to complete. Plans are being made to relocate exhibits, previously housed in the Farm & Garden Building, to other Maryland State Fairground locations during the 2025 Maryland State Fair.

The new 10,000-square-foot Farm & Garden Building will include: a lobby, an event hall, event storage, prep areas, offices, and restrooms. The building will continue to display the beloved exhibits of thousands of Maryland farmers and gardeners during the Maryland State Fair, and will serve as another year-round Fairgrounds rental venue for meetings, parties, conferences, and more.

“This new multi-purpose building is an exciting improvement for the Maryland State Fairgrounds,” said Maryland State Fair & Agricultural Society, Inc. General Manager D. Andrew “Andy” Cashman. “While we are grateful for more than six decades of Maryland State Fair memories made in the old concrete block building, we look forward to making new memories in a more adaptable and comfortable environment. The energy efficient HVAC system alone will be appreciated by fairgoers and exhibitors alike and will ensure a longer life for fruit, vegetables, flowers, and other exhibits at the Maryland State Fair.”

Kinsley Construction is serving as the construction manager for the new building on the Maryland State Fairgrounds. The design and construction team include: Proutt Consulting, JP2 Architects, Terraform Solutions, Carroll Engineering and Richard J. Stern, PE.
