Williamson’s Career-High 32 Points Lead Towson Men’s Basketball Over Drexel

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Towson University men's basketball team faced off against the No. 8 seed Drexel Dragons in the CAA quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers (22-10, 16-2 CAA) defeated the Dragons (18-15, 9-9 CAA) 82-76 to win Towson's fourth consecutive game in a row.

Dylan Williamson finished with a career-high 32 points on 63.2% (12-19) shooting, while knocking down a career-best seven triple on 70% (7-10) shooting. Tyler Tejada had 20 points on 9-of-19 (47.4%) shooting, with 12 points coming in the first half.

The Tigers won the rebounding battle 40-28.
Towson shot 49.3% from the field and 45% from behind the arc.
The Tigers had 16 second chance points compared to three for Drexel.

How It Happened vs Drexel:

Towson scored the game's first seven points with six coming from Tyler Tejada.
The Dragons responded with a 13-5 run to take a one-point lead with 13:32 remaining in the first half.
The teams exchanged three-pointers, then the Tigers scored 12 of the next 17 points to lead by six with 7:24 left in the first half.
Drexel cut its deficit down to three, but Towson went on a 10-2 run to lead by 11. The Dragons made a last second layup to give the Tigers a 39-28 lead at halftime.
The teams started the second half by exchanging baskets back-and-forth, then the Tigers extended their lead to 15 after a pair of Dylan Williamson triples.
Williamson and the Dragons continued to back-and-forth trading jumpers to maintain a double-digit lead for the Tigers.
The Dragons scored six straight points to trim the deficit to six with 9:20 remaining in the second half.
Towson responded by scoring six consecutive points to restore a 12-point advantage.
Drexel went on a 17-6 run to trail by one with 1:50 remaining.
Williamson drained a three-pointer from the left wing to give the Tigers a four-point lead with 25 seconds left.
The Dragons missed two three-pointers on the other end, then Tejada made two free throws to give Towson an 82-76 victory.

Dylan Williamson had 24 of his 32 points in the second half, going 6-of-6 from behind the arc. Williamson is the second player this tournament to have 30 or more points.
Tomiwa Sulaiman and Messiah Jones each grabbed seven rebounds apiece while Caleb Embeya had six.
The Tigers shot 58.3% from behind the arc in the second half.
Williamson's 32 points in the CAA Tournament is the most by a Towson player in a postseason game since Jamaal Gilchrist did it in 2004 against William & Mary.
