Mission Moment: Stuff the Bus Success 2025

By Team BCPS

Stuff the Bus 2025 – another success!

On August 22, The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools, Inc., held the third annual Dr. Tim Tooten’s Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive in partnership with the Hearst Cares Campaign. The event, held at Padonia International Elementary School from 3-7 p.m. and highlighted by WBAL TV, WBAL News Radio, and 98 Rock, brought in almost $35,000 worth of donated school supplies and almost $2,500 worth of monetary donations.

“We are ecstatic,” enthused Dr. Heather Wooldridge, the foundation’s associate director. “All these generous donations will go directly onto the shelves at our two Exchangerees - educator resource centers where teachers shop at no cost to themselves. BCPS teachers will be so happy and grateful to be able to select pens, pencils, filler paper, pocket folders, and so much more for their students and classrooms for free!”

Thank you, donors!

Since 2018, the Exchangerees have served more than 17,000 educators and 450,000 students, distributed more than 92,000 books, and distributed more than $4 million dollars' worth of resources and materials into our school communities. This is not possible without the generosity of community partners.

On Friday, donations came in from local businesses that had conducted Tools for School Drives, parents of BCPS graduates who miss back to school shopping, individuals who work with our students in other capacities who wanted to support the cause, students who earned community service hours for soliciting donations for the event, and many, many other kind-hearted Champions of Education. Thank you, all!

Thank you, volunteers!

An event like Stuff the Bus would not be possible without the time, talent, and treasure shared by our volunteers. Thank you, volunteers!

Need

The need for school supplies does not end once students go back to school. In fact, there is a need for school supplies all year long and The Exchangerees are open year round. Community members can help us keep our shelves stocked throughout the year. Learn more here.

Why support The Education Foundation

The Education Foundation of BCPS was founded on October 26, 1992, as the official 501 (c) (3) nonprofit for BCPS. The foundation board consists of a president, 1st vice president, secretary, treasurer, and vice presidents of advancement, communications, and programs and allocations. Additional board members serve as chairs and co-chairs of our committees, including those for our FUNdraising events.

BCPS is the 22nd largest school system in the nation with 110,000 students and 10,000 educators in 175 schools, centers, and programs. We are on a mission to contribute to a brighter future as a champion of the system and community through advocacy, fundraising, and programming. We believe that together, with our community partners, we can ensure that every student, educator, and school community have the resources necessary to reach their full potential.

Since 2010, the foundation has provided 579 scholarships (worth a total of $690,795) for graduating seniors pursuing post-secondary education and training. Since 2012, the foundation has awarded 643 school and office-based grants (worth a total of $1,228,341) to enhance the regular curricula. And since 2018, the foundation has operated two educator resource centers (the Exchangerees) where teachers shop for school supplies and other resources at no cost to them. The Exchangerees have served 16,526 educators and 429,676 students, distributed 89,275 books, and distributed $3,776,284 worth of resources and materials into our school communities.
