A DAY IN THE LIFE

Junie's been coming to the farm all her life with her parents and brother. She chooses the veggies for their share, visits with Milo the farm cat, Murphy the farm dog, the chickens and our goats, Tickle & Pickle, who just birthed 5 new bouncy kids. Junie doesn't like to leave.

This day in particular she was following Murphy around in a wonderfully non sensical zig zag pattern. She blew a shoe, back tracked, picked it up, gave it to mom, and kept on trucking.

Her Mom wrote "June regularly tells people 'Farm! Food!' When she is asking to go out, playing pretend or hungry. She sure knows where her food comes from!"

Junie's older brother, Theo, has been coming to the farm pretty much all his life too...I watched his Dad teach him the name of the vegetables, then how to read the veggie signs... these kids are brilliant. They have some pretty amazing parents who feel strongly about teaching their children well.
It is a joy to catch a glimpse of this process one CSA share at a time.

Daniel has been coming to the farm since he could walk! His mom lets him pick out the veggies, doesn't rush him, he trials many of the offerings and always has plenty of questions for me!

Apparently one day he carried this bunch of radishes around the WHOLE day long!
He's a big kid now, 5th grade.
When he heard his mom telling me her favorite things about our CSA via voice recording he said 'Hey Mom, Can I say something too?"

Here is Daniel's testimonial. My favorite!

“Hi Ms. Lisa, I wanted to say I like the food from Oak Spring Farm because it’s very fresh and you don’t use any chemicals and it’s grown REALLY well!”

Wow!

Daniel is an exceptional vegetable eater and asks where the food on his plate comes from!

I hear moms report over and over that their kids are EXCITED vegetable eaters when they know their farmer and know their food.
Add the extra farm trip with goats, dogs, cats, chickens and friendly farmers to talk to and you've got a serious RECIPE for voracious vegetable eating!

testimonial from Daniel's mom.
" I always enjoy coming to the farm; just knowing where my food comes from, the condition it’s grown in… there’s also always a really nice variety of things to choose from. It’s been nice to bring my children to the farm, I feel like they have become better vegetable eaters because they have been taken on tours to see where their food comes from, they get to choose it, and bring it home and cook it and eat it. I feel like it’s helped us all to become better vegetable eaters. It’s also organic! "
