New Luxury Hotel Coming To Owings Mills' Metro Centre
The Metro Center in Owings Mills.
A new 120-room hotel, named Element by Westin, is set to be the latest addition to the expansive Metro Centre project in Owings Mills.
David S. Brown Enterprises, the project's developer, announced that they expect to commence construction on the hotel this summer. The five-story luxury hotel will be located in what is currently a parking lot near Painters Mill Road, forming part of the second phase of the 45-acre, $1 billion Metro Centre project.
This new hotel is a part of the growing mix of retail outlets, apartments, and offices at the eight-year-old Metro Centre. The project, centered around the Owings Mills Metro Station just off Interstate 795, is a transit-oriented development. Its goal is to include 1,700 apartments, 150,000 square feet of retail space, 560,000 square feet of office space, and over 5,700 parking spaces. The Baltimore County Public Library branch and the Community College of Baltimore County campus also form part of the site.
The Baltimore Business Journal reports that phase one tenants of the Metro Centre include Times Square Kitchen, Honey House, and Eggspectation, all located south of I-795. The Willard apartment tower, which opened in December, offers one- and two-bedroom units.
